Located in Venda do Pinheiro, Mediapro entrusted Prudêncio with the renovation of its building’s roof — an opportunity to enhance energy efficiency and ensure waterproofing through the application of a KÖSTER TPO membrane solution.
 

Challenges and Requirements

A non-negotiable requirement: no interruption of Mediapro’s activity. The work was carried out simultaneously with the recording of programs such as Cristina ComVida and 5 Para a Meia Noite.
 
The roof was divided into two main areas: one in corrugated metal sheet coated with bitumen and another in fibre cement.
 
The applied system had to be lightweight, to avoid overloading, and compatible with the existing supports for lighting and broadcasting equipment.
 
The client also requested that the thermal insulation exceed by 50% the values normally proposed, ensuring greater comfort and energy savings.
 

Adopted Solution

Application of thermal insulation in PIR (polyisocyanurate) across both areas, ensuring high thermal performance.
 
As the final waterproofing layer, a KÖSTER TPO membrane was installed over the insulation.
 
In the fibre cement areas, a metallic structure was added, providing greater safety for working at height and allowing the system to be fixed to the roof without manipulating the fibre cement, keeping it intact and eliminating any risk of fibre release.
 
A specific execution methodology was also developed and applied, enhancing installation safety and system robustness. This methodology was the result of an evolution of a project already awarded by the National Innovation Agency, with full approval of Prudêncio’s SIFIDE application.
 

Results and Benefits

The roof is now equipped with an efficient, continuous system that combines thermal insulation and waterproofing, eliminating thermal bridges and vulnerable points for leaks, as well as discontinuities at ridges, gutters, and parapets.
 
Future maintenance is simpler thanks to the system’s nature and benefits from the high durability and sustainability of KÖSTER TPO membranes.
 
The client highlighted the structural consistency gained by the roof and the sense of safety when walking on it.
 
At the final inspection, the client stated they would “recommend Prudêncio to anyone in need of waterproofing services” — a testimony that confirms the success of this intervention.
