A project where technical intervention meets historical value. The Teatro Thalia, a 19th-century building of great heritage and cultural importance, faces rising damp infiltration — a persistent issue that requires a specialized and long-lasting approach.
Challenges and Requirements
Given the particularities of this project and what it represents, a testing phase was implemented, carried out by Prudêncio and monitored by LNEC.
Preserve the architectural and cultural integrity of the building while implementing the technical solution.
Ensure an intervention capable of delivering durability, safety, and efficiency in a unique and historic construction.
Adopted Solution
Application of the specialized KÖSTER Crisin 76 system for horizontal barrier protection against rising damp, sealing the capillaries within the walls — a method recommended to ensure long-lasting effectiveness.
Development of a specific KÖSTER mortar for this project, used to fill the required drill holes, which strengthened the walls’ resistance.
Careful and tailored execution to integrate the solution into the heritage building, with sensitivity to the historical and technical context of Teatro Thalia.
Results and Benefits
Elimination of rising damp in the area where our system was applied.
A high-level technical intervention that guarantees stability, safety, and long-term value.
